Kotoko were badly off colour, but their supporters turned their anger on Referee Silas Okine whom they accused of biased officiating.

Okine and his assistants --  A.S. Malik and David Laryea -- had to run for dear lives as police personnel on duty worked hard to ward off the advancing angry home supporters.

Moments after Okine ended the match, plastic bottles started flying from the stands and the referee had to wait for about five minutes on the pitch with the police giving him protection.

With the situation worsening, Okine and his assistants ran with blistering speed into the tunnel and to their changing room.

Kotoko should have themselves to blame for wasting some good opportunities that would have seen them carry the day.

With Rashid Sumaila effectively clawing the wings of Medeama marksman, Tanko Mohammed, the visitors were powerless upfront but uncharacteristic mistakes littered the Porcupine Warriors ’game.

A minute to end the first half, Yakubu, demonstrating power and poise, disentangled himself from Kofi Agyare at the Kotoko defence. He raced into the box but before he could deliver the kill, the ball was swept off his foot.

Once the Kotoko attacking force of Nti Boakye, Seidu Bancy and Michael Helegbe was unable to penetrate the Medeama guard, their Ugandan international defender, Joseph Ochaya, attempted a rescue mission with a screamer of a free kick  from 25 yards in the 49th minute, which sailed just wide.
