Sellas Tetteh, coach of the Black Satellites, insists he had no difficulty in naming his 24-man squad for preparations towards the 2015 Africa Youth Championship although the First Capital Plus Premier League is still on hold.
The Satellites begin preparations tomorrow at Prampram for the Championship to be staged in Senegal and the former FIFA U-20 World Cup winner has explained that majority of the players he selected for camping excelled during the qualifiers.
He said: “I did not face any difficulty because I already have a standing team comprising players who were instrumental in the qualifiers. Even though the league is not going on I am very confident about my choices.
“In the first week there will be only normal training; my technical team will also check on their medical and physical status,” Coach Tetteh explained.
The former African and World Cup winning coach stressed that he had respect for every team and as such was not looking at avoiding any team when the draw for the 2015 African Championships is held.
“There are no minnows among the teams that have qualified; Senegal, Mali, Congo, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, South Africa and Zambia. I respect all these teams, so I am not looking to avoid anybody,” he stressed.
The 2015 African Youth Championship wil start on March 8 and end on March 22 in Senegal.
