Ayariga to run Bawku United?

The Minister of Youth and Sports and Member of Parliament (MP) for Bawku Central in the Upper East Region, Mr. Mahama Ayariga, is now the new owner and bankroller of former Tamale All Stars Football Club (FC) now Bawku United (FC), a division one side.

Consequently, the Tamale-based club, with the change in management and name from Tamale All Stars to Bawku United, will now move their base to Bawku.

The decision for the take over by the Sports Minister is to use the club to promote peace and unity at Bawku, especially among the youth, to see themselves as one people and also  to unearth talents in the area.

The former owner of the club, Alhaji Karim Starboy, who is now a director of Bawku United,  disclosed this to the Graphic Sports in an interview at the Tamale Sports Stadium last Friday during a presentation ceremony to hand over football kit and other training equipment to the club by Mr. Ayariga, the new owner of the club.

The items included 10 footballs, four sets of jerseys, 30 pairs of football boots,  cones among others. Mr. Ayariga also promised to provide the team with a bus.

Alhaji Starboy said among the decisions by the Sports Minister to take over the running of the club was also to give Bawku a club side since the area has no one to use it as the rallying point of the people to come together as one people

The captain of the team, Sulemana Zuberu, who received the items on behalf of his colleagues thanked, Mr Ayariga, the new owner of the club for the support and pledged that they would not let the team down.
