Liberty Professionals Sunday lost 0-1 at home to visiting Ashgold in their penultimate Premier League encounter played at the Carl Reindorf Park at Dansoman in Accra.
The lone goal was scored by striker Emmanuel Osei who converted a 38th- minute spot kick after Liberty’s Anthony Nimo brought down winger Eric Opoku in the box.
Not much action was seen in the early exchanges in the first half but Liberty looked more aggressive as Kennedy Ashia remained a thorn in the flesh of the Ashgold defence.
The visitors resisted the marauding attack of the homesters and often launched counter attacks with Emmanuel Osei and Emmanuel Baffour leading the charge but goalkeeper Kotei Blankson was up to the task.
Against the run of play an onslaught by the visitors, led by Eric Opoku and Emmanuel Osei saw the former brought down in the Liberty box and the resultant penalty converted Osei.
Back from recess, the homesters led an onslaught in search for the equaliser but defenders Awudu Nafiu, Augustine Sefa and Ato Bissah stood tall and repelled the attack.
