Tagoe, Ashie fight in danger

The chief executive officer of Box Office Sports Promotions (BOSP), Alex Ntiamoah Boakye, says negotiations to finalise the rematch between George Ashie and Emmanuel Tagoe has stalled in recent weeks due to the disappearance of hiplife musician, Castro.

The musician, who disappeared at the Volta River estuary at Ada on July 6, is a close friend of Asamoah Gyan, the owner of Baby Jet Promotions (BJP), which incidentally manages Tagoe, alias Game Boy.

“For the past weeks, I have been unable to reach the management of Tagoe to finalise negotiations, although the boxer himself has agreed in principle to face Ashie, alias Red Tiger.

“Initially, at the Presidential Ball that preceded the World Cup, I told Gyan about my plans for this mega fight and he gave me the nod that he would like the fight to happen but because of Castro’s disappearance I have been unable to reach him or his brother, Baffour, to finalise the deal,” Mr Boakye said.

He was, however, hopeful of reaching an agreement with BJP this weekend after a scheduled meeting with Sammy Anim-Addo, the CEO of BJP.

Meanwhile, Sammy Anim-Addo has debunked Boakye’s position, claiming that the fight is the brainchild of his outfit, while BOSP are only partners.

“The fight is not a collaboration; it belongs to Baby Jet Promotions. The negotiations have not reached an advanced stage but both camps are agitating for it.

“We are being strategic; we need to consider many things but before the fight happens Asamoah Gyan needs to be in town,” Anim-Addo disclosed.
