Known as the Chief of Dondoli, the honour, according to the chiefs, was the result of the development-centred policies of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government which had seen the area benefit from many projects.

Chiefs endorse

The chieftaincy title was conferred on the Vice-President last Monday when he touched base with supporters of the NDC in the constituency as part of his campaign tour of the region.

At Bulenga where the Paramount Chief, Naa Abdulai Seidu Nawologime endorsed President John Mahama for a second term when the Vice-President called on him, the entire community went agog with party supporters thronging to the rally ground to listen to the campaign messages of the campaign train.

At a meeting, the chief thanked the government for the projects it had completed and others it had initiated, but expressed concern about the Bulenga-Wa road which was untarred, appealing to the government to expedite action on it.

Naa Nawologime further asked the government for a polyclinic for the community and the extension of power to cover more communities in the constituency.

Assurance

The Vice-President assured the chief that he had taken note of his concerns and would relay them to the appropriate authorities for action.

Bulenga is one of the communities in the Upper West Region benefitting from a community day senior high school.

At the rally to address party supporters, Mr Amissah-Arthur asked the voters to elect Dr Henry Seidu Daanaa, the NDC parliamentary candidate for Wa East in the upcoming polls.

He was full of praise for the chieftaincy and traditional affairs minister, arguing that in spite of the fact that the minister was visually impaired, his performance as a minister had been excellent and deserving of their mandate.

“Our opponents, knowing they are going to lose the election, have become desperate and would resort to all manner of things to provoke our supporters. Please stay calm and ignore them,” Mr Amissah-Arthur added.

He again assured the people that the government would install more small water systems and extend electricity to more communities to deal with their current challenges.

Among the people who addressed the rally were the Upper West Regional Minister, Alhaji Amin Amidu Suleimana and the Upper West Regional Women’s Organiser of the NDC, Hajia Cecelia Hamza.
