Sir Kier Starmer has announced he will resign as British Prime Minister as he made a statement at Downing Street on Monday morning.
He put out a timetable for his departure as Prime Minister.
This comes after pressure steadily built over the weekend for him to go.
He explained that he was resigning as leader of the Labour Party and had informed the King of his decision.

Kier Starmer said he has asked Labour's National Executive Committee to set out a timetable for a Labour leadership contest, with nominations opening on July 9, 2026.
In the case of a contest, this will ensure there is a new Labour leader by the time Parliament returns in September.
The emotional Kier Starmer thanked his wife, Victoria, whom he described as his "rock."
"When I leave the biggest job in the country, I shall spend more time on the most important job, being the best husband I can to my fantastic wife, Vic, who has been a rock by my side through good times and bad, and being the best dad I can to my beautiful children, who are my pride and my joy."
Kier Starmer, whose voice was breaking at that point of the speech, also thanked all his friends and colleagues who have been at his side for the past six years or so.
