Representing people in Parliament is a heavy task — Bantama MP

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Bantama Constituency, Daniel Okyem Aboagye, has said representing the people in Parliament is a 'heavy task' which will require the full support of all his constituents to enable him to operate a smooth and transparent adminstration.

Popularly called 'Wofa Atta', the MP expressed the belief that with continuous prayer, support and cooperation from his constituents he would be able to deliver to the satisfaction of all by lobbying for socio-economic projects in the areas of health, education energy, among others.

He stated this when he conferred with the Bantama SDA Church as Kumasi as part of his thank you visit to churches and mosques in the constituency.

He also used the occasion to express gratitude to his constituents for voting for him to become MP and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to become President during the December 2016 elections.

Overwhelming endorsement

The MP who was accompanied by some constituency executives said he could not have gone to Parliament without the overwhelming endorsement of the constituents and asked them to accord him the same support to discharge his responsibilities.

"As I move from one church to the other and a mosque to the other, I would like to pour our my heartfelt gratitude to you all for the confidence reposed in me and the New Patriotic Party (NPP). It is on that same note that I call for your continuous support as I begin work as MP," he stated.

Agencies of change

He mentioned that just as religious institutions were agencies of socialisation, they were at the same time agencies of development.

He said as these institutions prayed for God's will to be done, he advised members to live exemplary lives and stand for the sanctity of the nation in terms of development.

He expressed the belief that with continuous prayer support he would be able to deliver by lobbying for socio-economic projects in the areas of health, education energy, among others.

He presented an undisclosed amount to the Bantama SDA Church to support its activities.

Elder A. A. Amofa who received the money on behalf of the church expressed gratitude to the MP and his entourage.

He pledged the church’s support to him and the government, and that religious institutions would not develop when the nation did not develop, hence the need for such support.

A former MP for Nsuta-Kwamang-Beposo and Deputy Minister of Justice & Attorney General,Mr Kwame Osei-Prempeh, congratulated the Bantama MP and asked him to remain focused in order to deliver to  his constituents and religious institutions in the constituency.
