The Northern Regional Minister, Mr Salifu Sa-eed, who disclosed this at Yendi, said the President acknowledged the effort of all applicants who were all qualified for the post, but he could only appoint one person.

Reassignment

Mr Sa-eed, therefore, urged the rest of the applicants who could not get appointed to the MMDCE position to tender in fresh application letters and curriculum vitaes (CVs) to his office for reassignment.

He announced this at the confirmation ceremony of the Yendi Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) at Yendi.

He told the gathering that it was the President who directed him to ask them to re-submit their applications for reassignment.

"I assure you that the President has enough positions for many to help bring about development," he stated.

The President's appointee for the position of MCE for Yendi, Alhaji  Hamed Abubakar Yussuf, polled  31 votes out of the 43 votes cast, representing 72 per cent, to be confirmed as the MCE and was sworn into office by the minister.

The MCE expressed his gratitude to the members of the assembly for endorsing him.

He pledged to work together with the assembly members to push the development of the municipality forward.
