It has, therefore, written to the police rejecting their request to postpone their demonstration against corruption for the second time.

‘’Our demonstration against corruption will, therefore, come off as planned. Should you decide to change your mind and co-operate with us, we will be happy to welcome your support,”  a letter to the police and  copied to the press stated.

The  letter, which was signed by Nii Allotey Brew-Hammond, National Chairman of PPP, said it found  the decision not to provide ‘’us with the needed police protection for our planned demonstration scheduled for September 10, 2013, unacceptable’’.

‘’You stated that you are not able to provide us with protection because of a National Security ban on public demonstrations. As far as we are concerned, the National Security ban constitutes an infringement on our constitutional rights to express ourselves through demonstrations,’ the letter maintained.

The four- point letter said the police request for PPP to reschedule the planned demonstration without offering a time frame constituted a grave abuse of the police administrative powers with dire consequences for the country’s corporate plans, aims and objectives.

According to the letter, the  PPP regretted to inform the police that they were not able to accept their request for  the party to reschedule the demonstration.
