Perry Okudzeto not sacked - Paul Afoko (Audio)

New Patriotic Party chairman, Paul Afoko has questioned the motivation of persons he accuses of running to the media with party issues at the least opportunity and courting bad public image for the party, saying such detractors delude themselves into believing that political power will come to them on a silver platter.

He lamented that rather than focusing the party's energies at attacking the government for poor performance, those critics are driving wedges into the party when it can least afford to dissipate its resources on internal wrangling.

Paul Afoko was speaking on Asempa FM Tuesday evening after violence errupted at the party headquarters in Accra while he was addressing a press conference to respond to allegations of unilateral decisions by the general secretary, Kwabena Agyapong.

He denied claims that he and the secretary were out to oust some party functionaries for parochial gains and said the party's communications director for four years, Perry Okudzeto, who was last week asked to proceed on accummulated leave, has not been sacked contrary to claims out in the media to that effect.

Perry, he said was expected back in office after his leave. He also said national executives of the party who have also joined in the media fray, would soon be referred to a yet to be inaugurated disciplinary committee to explain their conduct, insisting that all decisions within the party had the blessing of the executive committee.
