NDC supports 3 hospitals

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) COVID-19 Technical team has presented a number of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to three teaching hospitals in the country as part of efforts to support front-line health workers in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.

The items, which were procured by former President John Mahama, who is also the flag bearer of the NDC, were donated to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, the Ho February Hospital and the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.

Korle Bu

At the presentation at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Emmanuel Quaye reports that 100 PPE and 100 pairs of gum boots were presented to the health workers, which were received by the Chief Executive of the Hospital, Dr Daniel Asare.

The Chairman of the NDC COVID-19 Technical Team, Mr Prosper Bani, who presented the items on behalf of the NDC flag bearer, commended the country’s frontline health workers for their dedication, hard work and sacrifice as the nation grappled with the coronavirus.

Mr Bani, who was accompanied by other members of the NDC COVID-19 Team, urged the government to work faster to supply the required protective clothing and logistics for the health workers.

Dr Asare thanked former President Mahama for the support and pledged that the hospital would put the items to good use.

Ho

In Ho, Jemima Achivors reports that 70 PPE and 50 pairs of gum boots were presented to the Ho Teaching Hospital by a member of the NDC COVID-19 Technical Team, Professor Margaret Kweku.

The Chief Executive of the Ho Teaching Hospital, Dr John Tampouri, who received the items, said despite the region’s zero case status, it was highly imperative that the precautions were observed in order to prevent its spread.

“All we need is your support either in kind or words to appreciate the people who are giving up their lives to protect you,” he stated.

Cape Coast

At the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, the team presented gum boots, masks, gloves and overalls, sanitisers and liquid soap to support frontline health workers at the hospital, reports Shirley Asiedu-Addo.

The Member of Parliament for Cape Coast South, Mr Kweku Ricketts Hagan, and the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Cape Coast North, Dr Kwamena Minta-Nyarku, presented the items to the hospital on behalf of the team.

Mr Hagan said the donation was made as part of plans by Mr Mahama to present items to all regional hospitals in the country to complement efforts by the government and other well-meaning organisations and individuals to fight the coronavirus pandemic.

The Chief Executive officer of the hospital, Dr Eric Ngyedu, who received the items on behalf of the hospital, said he was hopeful the presentation would boost the morale of the health workers.
