NDC launches campaign in two constituencies
Two constituencies were the centre of political attraction in the Ashanti Region last Saturday when Vice-President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur joined in the 2016 campaign launch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidates for Ahafo-Ano South East and Asawase.

Those constituencies were places in the region where major political activities took place at the weekend, especially with the presence of the Vice-President to grace the occasion.
At separate rallies, the Vice-President introduced Mr Chris Boadi-Mensah and Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, the parliamentary candidates for Ahafo- Ano South East and Asawase respectively, where he charged supporters of the NDC to spread the party’s message of changing lives and transforming Ghana.
Asuodei rally
Addressing a rally at Asuodei in the Ahafo-Ano South East Constituency, Mr Amissah-Arthur called on party foot soldiers to intensify their door-to-door campaign to ensure a resounding victory for President John Mahama.
Urging the teeming supporters to guard against complacency and work tirelessly to achieve victory, the Vice-President took issues with the record of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in terms of infrastructural development and said the NDC’s record was more impressive.
He underscored the need for party supporters to make undecided voters their target and ensure that they voted for the NDC in the December polls.
He called for the re-election of President Mahama so that he can continue to do more for the region and urged the electorate in the area to vote for Mr Boadi-Mensah to represent them in the next Parliament.
Other speakers at the function included Mr Yaw Boateng Gyan, a former National Organiser of the NDC, Mr John Alexander Ackon, Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr Andy Osei Okrah, Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, and Mr Yaw Obimpeh, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NDC.
The Chief of Asuodei, Nana Duruya Adarkwah, commended the government for the many infrastructure projects in the area and said most of the promises made by the government to the people in the area in terms of infrastructure projects were being fulfilled.
Asawase rally
At a mammoth rally in the Asawase Constituency, one speaker after another made a case for the re-election of President Mahama.
The General Secretary of the NDC, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, said the party did not discriminate but rather provided opportunities for supporters and Ghanaians in general to realise their full potential.
He said it was an NDC government that established the Islamic Education Unit to provide Islamic studies for Muslims who wished to pursue Islamic education and asked the Zongo communities in the country to disregard the promises the NPP was making to them.
He expressed the view that the running mate to the NPP presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, would one day realise he belonged to the wrong political party and make his way back to the NDC where he truly belonged and asked party faithful not to insult him.
