Muslim youth commended for peaceful polls

Stressing further Mr Ahmed said “the role of Muslim citizens in our country does not end with your vote. Islam has never been about what can be done for us. It's about what can be done by us together as Muslim brothers and sisters for this dear nation of ours called Ghana “

He also expressed his profound gratitude to the Ashanti Regional Chief Imam, the Council of Muslim chiefs in the region and other leaders of the Muslim community for the pieces of advice they gave to the Muslim youth prior to the December 7, 2012 general elections, saying, it was their spiritual leadership that enhanced the success of the elections in the region.

Mr Ahmed noted further that the WAFAVAWC also recognised the contributions that the security agencies also made towards the success of the election, and commended them for their effort.

“To the security agencies in the country, you were our guardian angel. You protected us a great deal and you made us felt safer than ever. May the good lord Himself grant you all strength and long life. We say to you too, thank you and congratulations” he stressed.

He said prior to the  general elections, the British High Commission supported the  WAFAVAWC to train  650 Muslim youth as volunteers who educated their peers to refrain from involving themselves in any form of violence, saying the contributions of the High Commission and the volunteers also added to the success of the elections and therefore expressed his gratitude to them.

“To the British High Commission, you came in at the right time to support and provide the needed training and logistics. We thank you, and congratulations to all Muslims in the Ashanti Region , May the Almighty Allah reward you tremendously” he announced.
