Funded by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kpando, Mrs Della Sowah, the programme is aimed at organising free remedial classes for students to improve on their grades.

Thirty-five part-time teachers have been engaged while an Education Fund has been established to give others the opportunity to help improve education  in the Kpando Municipality.

The Education Fund is to be officially launched later in the year.

Speaking at the launch, the Paramount Queen- mother of the Akpini State and Chairman of the Education Committee, Mamaga Agbalisi IV, commended the MP for introducing the laudable idea.

She said instead of the children just roaming the streets, they now had the opportunity to improve on their lives, adding that the MP had demonstrated that she was willing to better the lives of the people.

Mamaga Agbalisi advised female students to overcome the fear of venturing into the study of mathematics and the sciences.

She also urged the students to take advantage of the privilege offered them under the programme to better their lives.

In her introductory speech, Mrs Sowah reiterated her determination to help contribute her quota towards the improvement of educational standards in the Kpando Municipality.

“It gives me joy when I see others succeed. My driving force in life is to help others come up and when I am successful in improving the lives of people, I stay awake for joy,” the MP said.

Mrs Sowah asked the students to face challenges and make an effort to climb to the top of the educational ladder.

She commended the teachers for their commitment and urged them to help make a change in the lives of the students.

The MP also thanked the Education Committee for a job well done and asked members to forge ahead with the educational agenda.

Mrs Sowah said for the programme to succeed, there was the need for concerted efforts between parents and the organisers to help the students to climb to the top.

A representative of the students, Master Atigah Eric Forgive, thanked the MP for the opportunity given them to better their education.

“I want to assure her that we will not fail her. We will make her happy by doing well in our studies,” he added.
