The New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary aspirant for Dome-Kwabenya, Mike Oquaye Jr, is optimistic about the party retaining power in this year's general election.

He said in the history of the country in the Fouth Republic the governing NPP and the opposition National Democratic Congress had not gone beyond the eight year governance cycle, but the NPP was determined to break the ‘8’.

"So we are praying that God will show His power so that He would allow His servant, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, to come to power on December 7, 2025, and show Ghanaians that he can also do something," he said.

Mr Oquaye Jnr said this when he joined the Israel King of the Jews Church to thank God and its founder, Nakoa Prophet Nazareth Ansah Jamson, for his success in the parliamentary primary.

He thanked Nakoa Jamson for his prayer support that enabled him to win the Dome-Kwabenya contest to represent the NPP on December 7.

Ghanaians, he said, had seen the other contestants and their works, especially former President John Mahama and that was why "we are asking them to hold on and allow us to try a new person".

"I came to thank Nakoa Nazareth Ansah Jamson because when I was contesting ... he prayed for me.

He said I was going to win and it has come to pass and so I came to thank God and Nakoa for how he prayed and God listened to his prayers," he said.

Mr Oquaye Jnr said anyone who needed anything in life had to pray and rely on God and that He would do it for them.

Unity

He expressed the hope that all Ghanaians would come together and vote for Dr Bawumia to lead the country through its growth and development.

He said God used people to impact the lives of people on earth and that in his case, "God used Nakoa to do something big in his life".

For his part, Nakoa wished Mr Oquaye Jr well in his political career.
