The yet to be identified young men who are said to be armed with machetes, knives and other implements descended on the party while its national chairman, Paul Afoko, was addressing media men over recent controversial appointments and removal of certain functionaries from office.

Radio reports indicate a few people have been injured in the altercation while a car belonging to the party’s national women’s organiser, Otiko Djaba has been vandalised.

The NPP has been in the news lately over alleged unilateral decisions by its general secretary, Kwabena Agyapong, which decisions have seen the removal from office of the director of finance and administration, Kwadjo Opare Hammond and the director of communications, Perry Okudzeto.

At the press conference, party chairman, Paul Afoko denied that the decisions were devoid of the required consultation, saying the party would soon inaugurate a number of committees, including a disciplinary committee to deal with all whose utterances in the media are giving the party a bad name.
