Former MCE against all-inclusive government
A former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Mfantseman, Mr Robert Quainoo-Arthur, has kicked against the call from a section of the public for an all-inclusive government in Ghana.

Mr Quainoo-Arthur, who was an MCE in President Kufuor’s administration, made the remark in an interaction with the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday.
He asked how people with different ideologies could rule together and pointed out that while the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) was socialist in ideology, the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) was capitalist. “How can these differences in ideologies be combined to work efficiently?” he added.
The former MCE added: “The winner-takes-all mantra being trumpeted by some people is sending a wrong signal that there is a huge national kitty sitting down somewhere which politicians could go and loot.”
Mr Quainoo-Arthur said young men and women these days “see politics as a quick money-making venture and they have been flocking into it.”
He said instead of an all-inclusive government, the government must rather stop discriminating against people in opposition and make competence the yardstick for recruitment into jobs in its administration.
By so doing, he said, every worker would feel secured in his or her job to enable him or her to perform satisfactorily, adding, “termination of appointments for political reasons must stop.”
The former MCE appealed to the government to fully implement the Procurement Law to minimise corruption in the country.
Mr Quainoo-Arthur said for peace to prevail in the local governance administration, all the members of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) must be elected instead of some being appointed.
He decried the money syndrome being introduced into politics and said it would discourage people from going into politics and appealed to the government to find a way to change the trend.
