Calm at Ajumako Bisease after NDC/NPP clash
More policemen have been deployed to Ajumako Bisease, a farming community in the Central Region, to maintain law and order, following a clash between supporters of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) last Saturday which left some people injured.

The policemen, drawn from the Counter Terrorism Unit of the Ghana Police Service, were dispatched from Accra to the Central Region yesterday to team up with their counterparts in the region to deal with high risk situations such as rescue operations, armed robbery, public order management, terrorist attacks and vigilante groups.
In an interview in Accra yesterday, the Director General in charge of Police Operations, Commissioner of Police (COP) Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, said the police were firmly on the ground to nip in the bud any acts of violence.
Already, the police have identified 5,000 polling stations as hot spots as the nation gears up for elections.
For his part, the Central Regional Police Commander, Mr K. Tachie Poku, gave an assurance that security personnel were firmly in charge of affairs in the town to maintain peace and ensure the successful conduct of the December 7 General elections.
At the time Mr Poku was speaking to the Daily Graphic, all the police commanders in the region were locked up in a meeting on how to deal with the situation, identify other spots and deal with them.
Calm returns
Meanwhile, calm has returned to Ajumako Bisease after the violent clash between the NDC and NPP last Saturday.
When the Daily Graphic visited the farming community yesterday, everyone was going about his or her duties without let or hindrance.
It was not clear what might have occasioned the clash.
According to sources, the Central Regional branch of the NDC had planned to organise a keep fit exercise last Sunday, so while the communication team was going about publicising the event last Saturday evening at Bisease, a group of people in a pick-up and on motorbikes, believed to be supporters of the NPP, allegedly attacked the NDC team.
The sources said members of the team went to the police station to lodge a complaint, but the alleged attackers chased them to the police station to attack them there.
In the process, one Samuel Asare was stabbed in the right eye by a known NPP activist.
According to sources, another NPP activist also used an offensive weapon to knock Asare down.
In what was believed to be a reprisal attack, the sources said, some friends and family of the victim, who identified the aggressor, also attacked him and injured him as a result.
However, at a press briefing by the executive of the NPP at Ajumako Bisease yesterday, the party accused Mr Cassiel Ato Forson, a Deputy Minister of Finance and Member of Parliament (MP) for the Ajumako Enyan Essiam Constituency, and the NDC of orchestrating violence on NPP members in the area.
According to the NPP, the area had enjoyed peaceful elections until the MP “surfaced to contest the parliamentary election on the ticket of the NDC”.
