Agyepong eyes NPP General Secretary post

Mr Kwabena Agyepong, former Spokesperson for former President J.A. KufuorThe spirit of service, sacrifice and selflessness will be the fulcrum against which the New Patriotic Party’s organisational and grass-roots mobilisation will be revolved, Mr Kwabena Agyepong, the presidential spokesperson to former President J A  Kufuor, has observed.

Declaring his intention to contest the General Secretary position of the party at a press conference in Accra on Tuesday, he said: “Mine is a strong desire to serve the party with clear, consistence, pure motives and a solid character premised on competence, compassion, commitment and courage.”

He said he was the leader that understood, loved and helped people, and added that he would operate within his jurisdiction to campaign and uplift the party to achieve its expectation in the 2016 election.

Mr Agyepong told the press that the NPP needed a leader who was equipped to provide the sort of leadership which would restore the party as a genuinely united force and make it possible to visit the root to ensure that the machinery used in campaigning were well oiled to recapture power in the 2016 election.

He added that the NPP needed an action-oriented, passionate mission-minded leader who was very demanding of results and well baked to chase progress.

He was of the view that victory had eluded the party in trying circumstances in the last two elections and, therefore, stated “we cannot reverse the past but we can always learn from it and this is why there is the need to do things differently.”
