According to the council, the chiefs and people of Acherensua, were in full support of  Mr Frank Tweneboa-Kodua, who is from the town, becoming the DCE  and expressed the hope that the President would listen to their plea.

A press statement dated August 19, 2013 and signed by Nana Yaw Bonsu, Benkumhene of Acherensua on behalf of the traditional council, recalled developments leading to the creation of the new district in 2012, when Acherensua was assured of becoming the district capital.

“Even though we met all the criteria to be selected, we were not given that role, the capital was eventually sited at Hwidiem, much to the disappointment of the people of Acherensua.

“But, in order to calm nerves, Acherensua was high on the agenda of the government to be given the DCE position so as to balance matters,” it said.

However, the chiefs said they had been reliably informed that the DCE would again come from Hwidiem, which had already been made the district capital.

“We wish to remind the appointing authority who is the President as well as others who have some role to play in the appointment of DCE that the people of Acherensua are peace-loving and would not want to do anything that will disturb the peace of the area.

“Therefore, we are appealing to His Excellency the President and all others concerned to consider Mr Frank Tweneboa-Kodua as DCE in order to bring unity among the people in the district,” he said.

The chiefs, in the statement, described Mr Twebenoa-Kodua, a former Zonal Secretary and 2012 Zonal campaign manager of the NDC as a committed member of the ruling party. He is also an honest person who can be relied on to steer the affairs of the party.

He is also well-educated with a strong Information, Communication and Technology background.
