Speaking at the regular weekly meeting of the Swedruman Council at his palace, Okrupi Asiedu Botwe said the council would co-operate fully with the Agona West Municipal Assembly to undertake the exercise, but there were certain nagging issues in Swedru which had to be thrashed out.

Nana Botwe was responding to a speech by Mr Antwi Bosiako, Chairman of the Agona West Street Naming Committee, after Mr Bosiako had introduced the committee members to the council.

Among issues Nana Botwe said needed prompt attention of the committee was the encroachment on Swedru lands.

He specially mentioned the Agona East and Gomoa East assemblies, which, he said, were attempting to collect various taxes from the people who had houses or operated businesses on Swedruland.

Ogidigram Okrupi Asiedu Botwe queried, “How can Agona East claim that  the Swedru Senior High Secondary School  is within their boundary? Why should the Agona East Assembly levy operators at the sawmill when I was the one who offered 20 acres of land when the operators were displaced by the Akora floods on June 20, 2010"?

"Who authorised the Agona East Assembly to impose and collect levies from the house owners of Swedru Bungalow and elsewhere on what is our ancestral lands?” Nana Botwe further queried.

Mr Antwi Bosiako, who is also the Co-ordinating  Director of the assembly, assured the chiefs  that the assembly would consider the merits in the concerns raised by Nana Botwe.
