Sol Cement supports ECG with nose masks

Wang Heng Company Limited, producers of Sol Cement in Ghana, has donated over 5,000 pieces of nose mask to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

The masks are to support staff in the discharge of their duty in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Making the presentation last Monday, the General Manager of Wang Heng, Nana Obokomatta II, said the gesture was to show appreciation to ECG for its crucial role in making life bearable during the period.

“This is our way of saying thank you to you and your staff for making life bearable, particularly during the period of restrictions in movement.

“Now that wearing of masks in public is mandatory, this token of presentation is to further motivate your staff who still have to work round the clock to ensure there is electricity supply all the time,” Nana Obokomatta said.

Timely support

The Managing Director of ECG, Mr Kwame Agyemang-Budu, expressed the company’s appreciation to Wang Heng for the gesture

He said the presentation had come at a very appropriate time to ease the huge financial expenditure of ECG in providing personal protective equipment (PPE) for both its internal and external stakeholders as they went about their duties and also to protect them from contracting the virus.

Population

The ECG is known to receive huge numbers of people at its offices daily, and in addition to a staff strength of about 6,000 and a host of third-party contractors and suppliers, it forms a virtual community.

“It goes without saying that to meet the health protocols prescribed by experts, huge sums of money will always have to be invested to ensure a seamless flow of PPE to all our operational areas,” Mr Agyemang-Budu said.

“This thoughtful gesture is a timely support which would help us a lot,” he added.

The ECG boss indicated that the company had taken note of the recent pockets of outages reported in some areas following recent rainstorms, and gave the assurance that the technical men were on duty to ensure stable power supply.
