Socialist political parties and some organisations last Thursday took part in the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Day celebration held in Accra.

The event, themed: "Nkrumah, yesterday, today and tomorrow, " brought together key political figures in the country.

Notable among them were the Chairmen of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Prof. Edmund Delle, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Kofi Portuphy, the People's National Convention, Mr Bernard Monah, as well as the Founder of the All People's Party, Dr Hassan Ayariga, and the flag bearer of the CPP in the 2016 election, Mr Ivor Greenstreet.

A participant at the celebration could not hide his excitement

The atmosphere at the National Theatre, where the event was marked, was charged as members of socialist parties sang, recited poems, and eulogised Dr Nkrumah for what they described as his unmatched contribution to the country’s independence struggle.
