Six nominated as Regional Ministers

Six persons have been nominated by President John Dramani Mahama as Regional Ministers-designate.

A statement signed by Dr Raymond Atuguba, Executive Secretary to the President and issued Tuesday said the nomination of the six persons was in accordance with Article 256 (1) of the 1992 Constitution.

The nominees are Mr Samuel Sarpong, Ashanti Region; Mr Eric Opoku, Brong Ahafo Region, Mr E. K. T. Addo, Central Region, Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, Greater Accra Region, Mr Bede A. Ziedeng, Upper West Region and Mr Paul Evans Aidoo, Western Region.

The statement said the President had also assigned portfolios to various Ministers of State assigned to the Presidency.

It said Mr Alhassan Azong would be responsible for Public Sector Reform at the Presidency with Abdul Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, who had earlier been named as Minister-designate for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, reverting to the Presidency to take charge of Public-Private Partnerships while Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Agyare, previously nominated as Minister of State at the Presidency, takes over at the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts.

It said Alhaji Mustapha Ahmed would be in charge of Development Authorities at the Presidency, Mr Fiifi Kwetey, responsible for financial and allied institutions at the Presidency while Alhaji Limuna Mohammed Muniru would be in-charge of Human Resource Development and Scholarships with Ms Comfort Doyoe Ghansah overseeing Social and Allied institutions at the Presidency.
