Salma Okonkwo adjudged Female Energy Personality of the Year
The Board Chairman of UBI Group, Mrs Salma Okonkwo, has emerged as Female Energy Personality of the Year at the recently-held Ghana Energy Awards in Accra.
Mrs Okonkwo, who received the award for her outstanding performance in the nation’s energy sector, has been an outstanding personality in the sector since establishing the UBI Group.

Having become one of the few women to have headed an oil and gas company in Ghana, the 48-year-old entrepreneur believes the recognition at the Ghana Energy Awards would propel her to work harder to achieve greater heights in the future.
In an interview with the Graphic Online, Mrs Okonkwo expressed her desire to expand her reach across Ghana's energy industry by building what may possibly be one of Africa's largest solar power farms, calling it Blue Power Energy.
“It is an honour to be recognized in the industry where you work because it shows your hard work and I’m grateful for the award.
“This award I believe would help me to work even harder to achieve greater heights in the future for the betterment of the energy sector as well,” Mrs Okonkwo noted.
Meanwhile, the UBI Group is a fully integrated Ghanaian outfit that has retail stations as well as companies managing petroleum tank farms, oil tanker vessels and tanker trucks.
