Rlg's Roland Agambire sues Joy FM reporter for $1 million

The Chief Executive of Rlg Communications, Mr Roland Agambire, has brought a GH¢1 million defamation suit against a reporter of Accra-based Joy FM, Manasseh Azure Awuni.

According to Mr Agambire, the reporter posted what he described as malicious and defamatory comments about him on Facebook, which he said had portrayed him as corrupt and dishonest.

In his statement of claim, Mr Agambire said Manasseh made two separate posts on February 10 and March 3, 2015 attacking him without any justification, myjoyonline.com reported on Tuesday.

Mr Agambire, according to the report, contends that Mr Awuni’s Facebook publications were “offensive and actuated by malice”, adding: “…in their natural and ordinary meaning, the words contained therein meant and were understood to mean that [he] is a thief who is stealing the money of the people of Ghana and acting without regard for rule of law because he is untouchable.”

He wants among others, a declaration that the publications were false and defamatory; damages of GH¢1 million, an order restraining Mr Awuni from any such publications and a retraction and an unqualified apology, the report added.
