He said although there were a lot of Christians in the country, indiscipline and other vices continued to rise, saying if Christians followed the teaching of Christ, those vices would be curbed.

Rt Rev. Amponsah-Donkor said this in a sermon to dedicate a church complex at Ayanfuri Kurofofrom Resettlement Community in the Central Region.

The church complex, which comprises the church auditorium, a mission house, school and sporting facilities, was constructed by Perseus Mining Limited at the cost GH¢2.8 million as part of its social responsibility to the resettled community.

Rt Rev. Amponsah-Donkor added his voice to the illegal mining menace, saying Ghana should be grateful that God had given the country most of the natural resources.

However,in trying to mine, one should not do that to the detriment of the country.

He said the church would use its advocacy role and teaching to educate its members against environmental degradation.

He urged Ghanaians to heed the call to stop illegal mining.

The complex

The General Manager of the company, Mr Stephen Ndede, said the company had helped in various ways to make the people comfortable.

He said the company would continue to support the school complex to ensure that the standard of teaching and learning remained high.
