MP inaugurates community centres, cuts sod for 3 others
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Agona East, Obaatanpa Queenstar Maame Pokuah Sawyerr, has inaugurated three community centres and cut the sod for the commencement of three others within her constituency.
The inaugurated centres are at Agona Aboano, Agona Domoki and Agona Anomabo, while the three yet-to-be constructed are at Kow Afedzie, Mensah Kwaa and Agona Brahabekome all in the Agona East Constituency.

This brings the total of community centres completed for various communities to 24.
Development of constituency
During a tour of various communities in the constituency to inaugurate the projects, Obaatanpa Sawyerr assured her constituents that she would ensure that the Agona East constituency took its rightful place when it came to development.
"I am conscious of the promises I made to you before my tenure of office as your MP and as you can see, I won't renege on them. I will continue to be selfless in my service to you," she stated.
She explained that her decision to build the centres were borne out of the realisation that the communities lacked a place to hold social events such as durbars, community meetings, funerals among others.
Selfless service
"Such social events forge unity and togetherness and common purpose that build into the development of communities; I am hopeful these centres would be used to maintain the unity and peace prevailing in the areas," she pointed out.
At Agona Aboano, the Odikro, Nana Amo Mensah, commended Obaatanpa Sawyerr for her commitment to selfless service.
“You are always there for us. Your commitment to duty and support for all manner of people, especially the vulnerable, is commendable,” Nana Amo Mensah observed.
At Mensah Kwaa and Agona Brahabekome where she cut the sod for the construction of a community centre, the MP maintained her stance against political, social and cultural affiliation, explaining that her mandate was to all persons within her jurisdiction irrespective of their political, social, cultural on religious affiliation.
At Agona Anomabo, she urged students to take their studies seriously, especially the final year JHS students who are preparing to write this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
She assured the BECE candidates of providing one free hot meal each day for them, God willing during the examination period as she has always done.
