Minister cuts sod for Old Ashongman-Abokobi road reconstruction
The sod has been cut for the commencement of the Old Ashongman-Abokobi road in the Ga East District in the Greater Accra Region.
The 2.9km road project, which will be undertaken by Arimpa Limited at an estimated cost of GH¢5.3 million, is being financed by the Government of Ghana and is expected to be completed within 12 months.

Cutting the sod last Wednesday for the start of work, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Dome/Kwabenya, Ms Sarah Adwoa Safo, indicated that the government had signed a $23.8 million loan agreement with the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development for the rehabilitation of the Dome through Brekusu to Kitase road.
Ms Safo, who is also the Minister of Public Procurement, said the reconstruction of the road was in fulfilment of the government’s commitment towards the communities and residents.
"I am very elated that this project is finally going to commence today. As a mother of this constituency, I am aware of the negative effects our bad road network has on the operations of residents and the inconveniences it has created," she said.

Ms Safo said the roads in the constituency were being given the needed attention, explaining that the laying of asphalt on the Taifa roads and the coating of Haatso
Supermarket-Agbogba link road, all with bitumen, had been completed.
"Very soon, the Abokobi Teiman road will soon be constructed," she added.
The Ga East Municipal Chief Executive, Ms Janet Tulasi Mensah, appealed to residents of the various communities to exercise patience and bear the inconveniences the construction works were likely to create.
She urged all shop owners whose shops were located along the construction path to relocate their shops before construction works began.
Inspection
Ms Safo also inspected ongoing works on the Abokobi-Agbogba-Ashongman road, where construction of the 2.97km road began this week with work on the gutters on the sides of the road.
The engineer on the project, Mr Forster Aboagye, said the culverts would be enlarged to cater for the pressures of the rains in particular, given the development in the area and as a result of population increase.
Mr Aboagye assured Ms Safo that they would work assiduously to finish the project in 12 months as scheduled.
