Make Zoomlion workers sanitation educators — Ganyagloh

The Deputy Volta Regional Minister, Mr Francis Ganyagloh, has advised the management of Zoomlion Ghana Limited to consider using its workers as community educators on sanitation.

He said aside sweeping public places every day, the workers could be properly trained to educate their communities on good sanitation practices in order to complement the efforts of the government and the company in ensuring a clean Ghana.

Speaking at a ceremony to climax the weeklong activities of Zoomlion’s Thanksgiving programme organised in Ho, Mr Ganyagloh said the work of the company could not be underrated and urged the public to support the sanitation work.

He further called on the company’s leadership in the region to consider cleaning the busy markets and lorry stations at night as was the practice in developed countries.

Mr Ganyagloh assured the gathering that all assemblies in the region would continue to support the efforts of the company and  tasked management to continue to put the welfare of the workers first to ensure harmony in the company.

The Volta Regional Manager of Zoomlion, Evans Ewudzie Arthur, assured the deputy regional minister that his proposals would be given urgent attention, stating that  ‘’Zoomlion is ever ready to start night cleaning’’ and will soon deliberate with the various municipal and district assemblies on the issue.

The Ho Area Head of the Pentecost Church, Apostle Nii Kotey Dzani, who delivered the sermon, urged the workers to be diligent in the discharge of their duties and not to engage in practices that could undermine the efforts of the Executive Chairman of the company, Dr Joseph Siaw Agyapong.

He also led the workers through a period of prayer when members thanked God and sought more blessings for the coming year.

In her remarks, the Municipal Chief Executive for Ho, Mrs Fafa Adinyira, advised the public to not mock Zoomlion workers but rather support them in the discharge of their duties.

She expressed gratitude to the company for the meritorious contribution to health and cleanliness in the country, saying,  ‘’Without Zoomlion, Ghana and the Volta Region would have been filthier than it currently is.”

The service, which attracted hundreds of workers of the company from all parts of the region, was to thank God for His guidance, protection and blessings over the years, particularly 2013.

It also brought together some municipal and district chief executives in the region, traditional rulers and heads of other corporate institutions.
