The exercise, initiated by the company’s Fun Club, drew large numbers of its members who were led by the General Manager and  Financial Controller, Salim Nahlous and Gescard Chreim respectively.

The donors were all taken through a blood test and medical examination before the exercise.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) Latex Foam, Miss Gifty Asare Ekeocha, told the Daily Graphic that “the fact that our staff took the initiative speaks volumes and we had no other choice than to support them. You saw our GM and the Financial Controller leading by example by taking part themselves’’.

“We believe in being our brother’s keeper, hence the exercise and it falls under our corporate social responsibility,” she added.

The Chief Biochemical Scientist in charge of the 37 Military Hospital Blood Bank, Mr Edwin Narter-Olaga, advised the public to cultivate the habit of donating blood at least once every four months due to its benefits to both the donor and the public.

“It is very healthy and beneficial to donate blood, because the more you donate, the more it is restored. We should not wait till patients are in dire need of it before we donate.

“I encourage all and sundry to make blood donation a habit because when you do it today, it will save a life tomorrow,” said Mr Narter-Olaga.

The blood donation exercise was one of the many social responsibility projects Latex Foam has embarked on this year and its PRO said it would be made a regular exercise.
