The donation formed part of the church’s first anniversary celebration.

The leadership of the church encouraged the inmates to remain steadfast in their faith and have hope in God.

The head pastor of the church, Mr Nathaniel Roberts, said the donation was to demonstrate to the inmates that although they were useful to their communities prior to their incarceration, God would not abandon them.

He gave a promise that the church would continue reaching out to persons the society considered to be condemned.

Receiving the items on behalf of the inmates, the Assistant Director of Prisons (ADP) and Officer in Charge of the Akuse Prisons, Mr Edward Fiifi Acquah, expressed profound gratitude to the church for the gesture.

He called on other corporate organisations and institutions to reach out to prison inmates with food items, and that prison inmates should not be seen as outcasts in the society.

The prisons, he concluded, were meant to reform inmates and not to condemn them.

Members of the church later visited the Akosombo Dam site where they were briefed on the history of the dam and how electricity is generated and transmitted for consumption.
