Guidelines for wreath-laying ceremony at Asomdwee Park

The late President JEA MillsThe Planning Committee of the first anniversary of the passing away of President John Atta Mills, has announced guidelines for the wreath-laying ceremony in his memory at the Asomdwee Park, Accra today.

According to a statement signed by Mr Kofi Totobi Quakyi, the chairman of the commmitee, vehicles with red stickers may park at the Castle, Osu

It said cars with pink stickers and those with diplomatic number plates will park at a specially designated area along the Marine Drive leading to the rear entrance of Black Star Square.

It asked both red and pink sticker holders to note that after 1 p.m., there will be no access for vehicles on the Castle Drive Road towards the Marine Drive, while the main grounds of the Black Star Square will be available to members of the general public for parking.

The statement said the police and other security personnel would be on duty to ensure order.

It added that at the Asomdwee Park, there would be specially designated areas in the inner and outer perimeters for members of the general public who wish to observe the ceremony.

The statement said individuals and organisations wishing to lay wreaths and flowers at the tomb of late President were welcome to do so after the main event.

It said the Asomdwee Park would remain open to the general public after today’s event.

The statement entreated all concerned to co-operate with the police and security personnel to ensure orderliness during and after the wreath laying ceremony.
