An Assistant Commissioner of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), Gordon Yaw Saah, has been enstooled the Gyaasehene of Akyem Swedru and the Akyem Bosome Traditional Area under the stool name Obrempong Boakye Tano Biri.
The colourful traditional ceremony, held at Akyem Swedru in the Eastern Region, attracted a large gathering of traditional rulers, government officials, senior officers of the GIS, family members, friends and well-wishers from across the country.
The enstoolment rites were performed by the Paramount Chief and President of the Akyem Bosome Traditional Council, Okotwasuo Kantamanto Owrae Agyekum III, assisted by the kingmakers and members of the traditional council.
Among the distinguished traditional leaders who attended the ceremony were the Paramount Chief of Effutuakwa Traditional Area, Okumanini Baffour Asare Kyeahene II; the Tepa Twafohene, representing the Tepa Manhene, Dr Nana Baffour Appiah Frimpong; Akyem Bosome Akwamuhene, Obrempong Ofosu Asante Kodan II and Obrempong Twum Barima Teabɔfrɛ.
The rest were the Nifahene and Akyeamehene of Akyem Bosome, Obrempong Ayim Mmoronsam II; the Chief of Akyem Kotokuom, Osabarima Kwakye Marfo Ahenkorah II; the Chief of Batabi, Osabarima Oppong Kyekyeku; the Ablekuma Joma Zongo Chief, Nii Kinkanksu Musah Nsor; Gyaasehemaa of Akyem Swedru, Nana Akua Ago; the Akyempemhemaa of Akyem Aperade, Nana Krampah Kumah Nkownah I as well as other chiefs and queen mothers.
A delegation from the GIS, led by the Deputy Comptroller-General in charge of Finance and Administration, Evelyn L. Lotsu, attended the ceremony on behalf of the Comptroller-General of Immigration and the management of the service.
Humility, Integrity
In his acceptance address, Obrempong Boakye Tano Biri, who is also a Chief Staff Officer of the GIS, expressed appreciation to the paramount chief, kingmakers and the people of Akyem Bosome for the honour bestowed on him.
He pledged to serve with humility, integrity, fairness and dedication, while continuing to discharge his duties with professionalism as an officer of the GIS.
He also pledged to support the socio-economic development of the Akyem Bosome Traditional Area, promoting peace and unity and working closely with traditional authorities, government institutions and development partners to improve the welfare of the people.
The ceremony featured traditional rites, colourful cultural performances, drumming and dancing, and goodwill messages from chiefs, dignitaries and guests, who congratulated the newly enstooled Gyaasehene and prayed for wisdom, good health and a successful reign.
