Commendation

A Deputy Minister of Trade and Industries, Mr Robert Ahomka-Lindsay, commended the winners for their immense contributions to the sector, adding that their efforts had ensured progress in the manufacturing industry.

“An economy that is based on the export of raw materials has not got much future and it’s very appropriate that we honour our companies which deal in value addition to our raw materials for domestic use and export.

Countries that are good at exporting finished goods have stronger economies and it will be best for us to emulate them,” he stated.

Mr Ahomka-Lindsay said the government had laid good foundations for businesses to thrive in the country.

He mentioned some of the measures to include the creation of a conducive environment and accurate regulatory systems, saying that “the role of the government is not to run businesses but to put in place good measures to enable individuals to run their own businesses.”

The deputy minister advised businesses to capitalise on the efforts and the foundations laid by the government to come up with initiatives that would help grow their businesses.
