Fire Service

Dr Obeng Dwamena said we are within a period where the dynamics of the weather demand more attention.

He explained that the absorption of the moisture around this time exposes materials and make them more prone to fire due to dryness.

He said as part of measures to ensure a fire free yuletide season, the public should;

  • make sure ‘Christmas lights’ are kept away from coming into contact with curtains
  • explosives which are used during this season should be done with caution
  • avoid the use of faulty home appliances
  • farmers should create fire belts before burning bushes
  • avoid prolonged use of air-conditioners and
  • avoid the behaviour of not attending to appliances in use

Dr Obeng condemned the habit of food vendors cooking at lorry stations and along roadsides, saying the act is highly prohibited.

Food and Drugs Authority

The Deputy Chief Executive Officer at the Ghana Standards Authority, Mr Seth Seaneke said the food and drugs authority would continue to play a part in controlling the safety of foods, drugs and products that come to the market.

He however noted that ensuring safety in terms of food was a collective responsibility of the general public and asked  individuals to watch out for expiry dates on products, look out for dented and bloated cans, avoid buying foods that have a few months to expire and avoid buying foods which are cheaper than the normal market price.

GCGL

The Director of News for (GCGL), Mrs Mavis Kitcher, in her speech said the Graphic Communications Group Limited would persist in its media leadership role and professionalism to help build a better nation.
