The outcome of the two-day meeting, which is held every year in Accra, will be recommendations for the ensuing year, particularly on how to garner funding and technical support for priorities that will be identified.

The  theme for the meeting is “Fast tracking the National Response towards 90-90-90.”

About 300 participants from stakeholder groups, including members of the GAC, ministers of state, heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies, Regional Coordinating Councils, Regional and District HIV Focal persons are expected to participate in the event.

She said the forum will also focus on sensitising stakeholders to the UNAIDS’ Global 90-90-90 Fast Track targets and the country’s position to achieve these targets.

This will be followed by discussions on the priorities for the national response for the next five years.

Dr El-Adas said a business meeting will be held on the second day to engage government, the private sector, Faith-based Organisations and development partners to discuss resources for implementation of the National HIV and AIDS Response in 2016 and beyond.

The outcome of the two day meeting, she added will be an An Aide Memoire which will include a summary of proceedings, agreed priorities and financial commitments made by donor partners for the management of the National HIV and AIDS Response which will be signed by all partners.

According to the Director -general of the GAC, Dr Angela El-Ads, the partnership forum is aimed at stimulating innovation, critical thinking and deciding on strategic policies and programmes to address critical bottlenecks facing the national response.

It is anticipated that at the end, consensus will be built around what works, what we need to do more, and how to apply scarce resources, she added.

“Key decision points will be discussed and priorities will be agreed upon by partners. There will also be discussions around the key programmatic interventions – prevention, treatment, care and support, and associated structural challenges such as stigma and discrimination, punitive laws, sustaining financing of the national HIV response,” she added.
