They pleaded not guilty to the charges of conspiracy and robber.

After a full trial of the case, they were found guilty by the court, presided over by Mr Francis Obiri.

Each of them will serve 25 years for conspiracy and 30 years for robbery, with the sentences running concurrently.

According to the judge, the prosecution was able to prove the guilt of the convicts beyond reasonable doubt.

Facts of the Case

The facts of the case were that on April 15, 2012, the victim went to the Mile Seven branch of the Agricultural Development Bank to withdraw $700.

After the withdrawal, he was on a motorbike heading for his house when, on reaching Achimota Neoplan, he was stopped by the four convicts, one of whom was holding an AK 47 assault rifle.

They then ordered the victim to surrender the money he had cashed to them.

According to the prosecution, after the convicts had collected the money from the victim, they pushed him into a waiting Kia Rio taxi, with registration number GE 7537-11.

Agbeko then took control of the motorbike on which the victim was riding.

The convicts told the victim that he was under arrest and that they were sending him to the Tesano Police Station .

On their way, they stopped close to the De Georgia Motors, gave his motorbike to him to ride and follow them but they sped off immediately, leaving the victim to his fate.

The victim subsequently made a complaint to the Mile Seven Police Station.

According to the prosecution, on May 22, 2012, the convicts were arrested with the help of some informants when they planned to embark on another robbery at Achimota Cargo Station with the same modus operandi.

They were sent to the Tesano Police Station and later transferred to the Greater Accra Regional Police Command where they were further investigated.
