In addition,Teye is to report to the Nuaso Police once every fortnight  from Monday, May 11, 2015 until the order is varied or vacated.

Presiding, Mr Asmah Akwasi Asiedu, a High Court Judge with additional responsibility at the Circuit Court, however, remarked that the “intent”  for  murder was lacking and so the accused would not be charged for murder by the Attorney General.

According to Mr Asiedu, dockets that were sent to the Attorney General’s office took so long to be dealt with and since the Circuit Court has co-ordinating jurisdiction with the District Courts in respect of committal proceedings regarding the offence of murder, he would admit him to bail and adjourned the case for hearing to  May 27, 2015.

The facts presented by ASP Richmond Akwasi Yeboah were that the complainant is a draughtsman resident at Lorm, a suburb of Odumase Krobo, while Teye also resided at Okortor also a suburb of Odumase –Krobo.

ASP Yeboah said on January 14, 2015 at about 10:00p.m., Teye, who went hunting in a nearby bush at Okortor alone shot and wounded one Francis Kennetey now deceased with a double barrel riffle.

He said after shooting the deceased, Teye later rushed the victim to the Volta River Authority (VRA) Hospital at Akosombo and was later referred to the 37 Military Hospital for further treatment.

ASP Yeboah said on January 18, 2015, the victim died.

He said the complainant, with the help of some witnesses, arrested Teye and sent him to the Nuaso Police Station where he was re-arrested and detained.

During interrogation, Teye told the police that while hunting around 8:00p.m., he saw some light behind him in a thick bush.

He said he flashed his torch twice towards it but there was no movement so he shot at it thinking it was an animal, but later heard a voice saying “you have killed me”.

The prosecutor said Teye said it was when he went closer  that he realised he had shot a  human being and not an animal as he thought.

Meanwhile, the double barrel riffle had been retrieved  by the police while investigations continue.
