Fake doctor before court

A 27-year-old self-styled doctor has been arrested for allegedly using  a computer software to diagnose and administer medication to people in the Sekondi/Takoradi metropolis.

“Dr” Daniel Appiah Kyere Dankwa, who does not have any medical training, is said to have been ordering his “patients” to take the medication he prescribed and pay for the treatment immediately after consultation.

So far, 22 people are said to have fallen victim to the schemes of the suspect.

The Western Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Olivia Ewurabena Adiku, told the Daily Graphic that Dankwa admitted the offence.

Computer software

According to the police, the suspect claimed that he had a computer software that he used to diagnose diseases, after which he searched the Internet for the appropriate medication.

ASP Adiku said after the supposed diagnosis, Dankwa then collected his fees from his 'patients' and bought the drugs for them.

Apparently becoming suspicious of the credibility of the suspect, some of the victims  reported the matter to the police.

ASP Adiku said Dankwa had been charged with wilfully and falsely practising medicine, contrary to Section 48 (b) Health Professions Regulatory Bodies Act 857/13.

“Dr” Appiah who was put before the  Circuit Court in Takoradi  was granted a GH¢100,000 bail with one surety to re-appear on Wednesday, May 21, 2014.
