Mr James Oppong, a former Kumasi Diocesan Chairman of the Association of Methodist Men’s Fellowships, said the church needed to do more to provide adequate protection to young people and help them become God-fearing. He said when this was done, the youth would more readily uphold the values of integrity, self discipline, sacrifice and service.

“By this, they will become useful to themselves, their families, church, communities and the nation.

Mr Oppong was speaking during the inaugural ceremony and induction service for newly elected officers of the Emmanuel Methodist Men’s Fellowship at Bokankye in the Asuoyeboa Circuit of the church in the Kumasi metropolis in the Ashanti Region.

He encouraged the new officers to work with passion in order to attract the youth into the fellowship. He further urged them to lead a “Christ-like life” of love, modesty and decency.

He also reminded them to intensify the drive in evangelism as a means of bringing hope and salvation to the people as well as do all they could to support development projects initiated by the church.

Reverend Kingsley Opoku-Koduah, the Minister in charge of the Bokankye Methodist Church, urged Christians to remain steadfast in their faith and have abiding trust in God since there was salvation for those who worshipped God in truth.

The Kumasi Diocesan Chairman of the Fellowship, Mr Edward Nketiah-Asante, encouraged members to be kind to others and do what was noble and dignified. “Endeavour to lead lives that will bring honour and dignity to the church,” he said.

He exhorted them to make financial contributions towards the construction of a 100-bed capacity hostel the diocesan fellowship was putting up at the Kwadaso Methodist Retreat Centre.
