The deceased,  Adamu Bisa Bidor, 35, was  with other traders, who had gone to the area to buy cattle  and they were attacked by  the gunmen around 4am on Monday.

They were sleeping in a kiosk near the Tamale-Kintampo highway at the time of the attack.

A relative of the deceased who narrated the incident to Graphic Online said the robbers woke them up and took a bag containing an unspecified amount of money from them.

He said the deceased  in the process held one of the robbers  and whilst struggling with him another who was fleeing from the scene  returned and shot him three times

He explained they were from Kumasi and that was where they slept anytime they came to the area to trade, adding that all that I heard was "hands up" followed by gunshots.

"My brother was shot and they took away his money. They are two; the one who fired the gun was bare chested ", he stated.

The District Police Commander Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mr Kingsley Owusu Antwi confirmed the incident to Graphic Online

The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Tamale Teaching Hospital mortuary.
