Aglow International prays for Ghana

Aglow International last Saturday held its mid-year thanksgiving service to acknowledge God for sustaining and preserving the peace and stability of Ghana throughout the first half of the year.

The four-hour programme dubbed “Afi Mpeamu Aforebo” was on the theme: “The Lord is worthy of praise in Ghana.” (1 Kings 8:56).

The non-denominational service, which brought together hundreds of women and men, was held at the Black Star Square in Accra.

Clad mostly in white attire, the women used ‘’vuvuzelas’’, whistles, white handkerchiefs and miniature Ghana flags to praise God for his faithfulness and mercies on Ghana.

Every month, members of Aglow International pray for the nation and, especially, against the challenges confronting it.

The counsel of God

Leading the women in prayer and worship, the National Prayer Director of Aglow International, Mrs Gifty Afenyi-Dadzie, said it was only by the grace of God that peace still prevailed in Ghana.

Quoting the book of Kings, she said God had been good and spared Ghana from hunger, war, terrorists attacks, coups d’etat, among other disasters and said “there is an invisible hand preserving the land of Ghana”.

Ahead of the 2016 election, Mrs Afenyi-Dadzie led the congregants to pray against blood-thirsty evil spirits that would bring about instability, conflict or war in the country.

She prayed that there would be no evil influence in the election and added that only the voice and counsel of the Lord would stand in the election.

Apart from praying for peace and more rains to make the land fertile and for the Akosombo Dam, Mrs Afenyi-Dadzie also tasked the congregation to also pray for the leaders and politicians of the country by asking God to give them knowledge, understanding and the ability to address the challenges confronting the nation.

“Continue praying”

For her part, the National President of Aglow International, Dr Mrs Dorothy Danso, said Ghana had enjoyed divine protection, love, peace, forgiveness, healing, among many other blessings from God, and, therefore, God deserved to be praised.

She said Ghanaians had every cause to appreciate and thank God for His faithfulness and unusual kindness towards the nation despite the prevailing challenges it was facing such as the  economic difficulties.

“God has preserved the peace, unity and stability of the nation. He has been good to Ghana in all times. Therefore, we have every cause to appreciate Him,” she stated.

Dr Danso said Aglow International had prayed for the nation and that among other ministries had sustained the peace and stability of the country. She, therefore, urged the women to continue praying because “God has better things ahead for Ghana”.

Some artistes who performed included Minister Benny Conns and Patience Nyarko, Jasper Band, Aglow Choir, God’s Gift International Brass Band, Ghana Dance Ensemble and the Aglow Tambourine Choir.

Similar sessions would be held at Jubilee parks in Wa, Bolga, Tamale, Kumasi, Sunyani, Takoradi, Cape Coast, Koforidua Jackson Park and Ho RTC Park.
