Afife Traditional Area gets new Paramount Chief

Kingmakers in the Afife Traditional Area in the Volta Region have installed a new Paramount Chief for the area.  The chief, known as Torgbuiga Adrakpanya, was introduced to the people at a grand ceremony that took place at Afife, the capital of the traditional area.

Torgbuiga Adrakpanya,68, is known in private life as Mr Edward Amuzu. He works with the Saltpond Offshore Producing Company and is an expert in oil and gas production. He had previously worked extensively with a number of construction firms in the country and abroad and had also worked as a teacher.

Acceptance speech

In his acceptance speech, Torgbuiga Adrakpanya expressed his gratitude to the chiefs and people for the confidence they had reposed in him. He pledged to work hard to ensure that the area was adequately developed. He mentioned that as part of his programme to bring progress, he intended to establish a traditional council, build a palace and a police station,
