Prosecution's facts
Per the facts of the case the incident occurred on June 21, 2026, when armed men denied Sarah Adwoa Safo access to a house at Kwabenya where a ceremony was reportedly being held to install a successor to the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, founder of the Christo Asafo Church.
The standoff escalated into gunfire, in which the complainant sustained gunshot wounds to the left side of her face, the back of her head, her left ear and her lower jaw.
According to the prosecution, Adwoa Safo's Landcruiser Toyota Prado, valued at GH¢450,000, was also extensively damaged.
The prosecution added that the accused, most of whom were described as private security guards, alongside a businessman and a farmer, were found in possession of six Mosberg pump-action guns, three pistols, thirty-three rounds of 9mm ammunition, and forty-two AA cartridges, none of which were covered by any licence or permit.
According to the facts before the court, further searches led to the retrieval of two additional pistols loaded with 20 live rounds concealed in a bag, a third pistol loaded with 13 rounds, and — from a second house belonging to Nana Akofena — 120 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 50 pieces of 40mm ammunition, and 25 pieces of 45mm ammunition, which he admitted owning.
Nana Akofena, who was arrested on June 22, denied the offence, telling investigators he had left the scene before the shooting occurred.
