'Check mental health of drivers'

The newspaper, Passenger Travel Guide (PTG), is a weekly newspaper owned by GHANAPAS and focuses on educating passengers on travel safety practices and insurance claims.

The paper creates a platform for passengers to voice their grievances to the authorities, as well as empowers them to maintain safety on the road.

Mr Dsane said research conducted by the association indicated that 60 per cent of drivers were engaged in the sniffing of hard substances, while only 10 per cent were tested for alcohol.

“The time has come for the government to put in place scientific measures to check the physiological health of drivers before they are issued with licences to help bring sanity on the roads,” he said.

He said the checks would enable drivers to observe rules and regulations on road safety.

The National Executive Chairman of GHANAPAS, Mr Freddie T. Caut-Pinto, said the objective of the association was to play an advocacy role and lobby the government on policies in relation to passengers.

He said GHANAPAS aimed at promoting the rights of all passengers in the country to ensure that transportation systems enjoyed extreme carefulness enhance passenger security.
