According to him the school is committed to creating an enabling environment conducive for effective teaching and learning as well as grooming of students.

Speaking at a ceremony to mark this year’s Africa Union (AU) Day, Mr Appiah-Boateng, therefore, asked parents to play their role effectively in complementing the efforts of the teachers.

He said the emergence of social media remained a major challenge confronting children these days, stressing that the efforts of all those in charge of the development and upbringing of children are needed to protect them.

“Let us keep our eyes on our children so that they do not fall victim to the negative effects of social media”, he said, adding that in spite of the numerous benefits of the Internet, it could pose a threat to children when they are not protected.

To mark the AU Day, the schoolchildren dressed in African outfits, had the opportunity to showcase their regions through singing and dancing while others immitated popular speeches of some renowned African leaders including  the first President of Ghana, Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, and Nelson Mandela of South Africa.

Mr Appiah-Boateng stressed the importance of the AU Day and said the day gives the opportunity to schoolchildren to appreciate and experience the culture and history of other countries and help them build up their knowledge about the continent.

The colourful event was heralded by the hoisting of flags of Ghana, the AU and the school.
