Ford Schools Limited mark 11th graduation

A Senior Lecturer at the Agriculture Economics Department of the University of Ghana, Legon, Rev. Dr Edward Ebo Onumah, has advised schoolchildren to strike a balance between academic work and extra-curricular activities so they can develop their talents early in life.

He explained that it was not every child that would excel academically because some would make it in life through the skills they develop while engaging in extra-curricular activities such as sports, music, painting and playing various musical instruments.

Dr Onumah, who was speaking at the 11th graduation ceremony of the Ford Schools Limited, asked parents to assist teachers to provide children with as many opportunies as possible to help them make  informed choices to enable them to maximise their potentials and values in society.

He also urged parents to mould children to become responsible adults who would contribute to the development of the country as adults.

The event was on the theme: “Unearthing Childhood potentials through Skills Development.”

In all, a total of 155 pupils and students graduated from the kindergarten, primary and junior high school departments.

The Director of the schools, Mr Clifford Korley, urged both parents and teachers to create a conducive environment for children to discover and unearth their potentials. “And this can be done through conscious planning, guidance and counselling mechanisms,” he added.

The Headmaster of the schools, Mr Eric Doudoo, said the school had unearthed, nurtured and produced talented individuals who were working in diverse fields in the country as lawyers, engineers, doctors, footballers among others.

He, therefore, advised the graduands to go about their activities in life with caution, confidence and prepare to be challenged, excited and inspired at each stage of their development.
