Having to deal with an inquisitive or nosy neighbour in a typical African compound house can be real handful. At times, you want to choke them, or simply wish they would just evaporate into thin air.

Even more nauseating, on top of all these ‘wahala’, is to end up with a next- door neighbour who disagress with you on everything, especially political matters.

The play, written and directed by award winning poet, playwright and director, Oswald George Okaitei, is set in the 21st century Ghanaian environment.

Okaitei depicts the comical political drama of two families who are always at each other’s throats because of their strong allegiances to the two main political parties in the country-NPP and NDC.

No attempt to undermine the candidature or pedigree of their avowed party leaders by a neighbour is taken lightly –it is a boot for boot situation. These families elevate fighting, insults and attacks on the persona of their opponents into a daily exercise.

The two families’ sickening and almost immature arguments provide perfect opportunity for their irritated landlord to capitalise on the situation, thereby, increasing their rent.

Perhaps, a consensus among these neighbours is in sight when this development rears its ugly head. On the other hand, would it be yet another avenue to incite more fire and venom? Or, is it just a “beautyful” nonsense’?
